Chem One Newsletter ChemOne

Chem One Ltd September 2017

Chem One is open!

We would like to thank our customers and suppliers for their thoughts and prayers during the flooding event in the Houston area. We’ve always said we have great customers and suppliers. Your concerns were comforting and appreciated.

The warehouse and office are well built and didn’t suffer any significant damage. Most employees had minor or no damage however a couple were significantly impacted from the storm and we’re here to support them.

Once again thank you for your concern from everyone here at Chem One.

Copper metal surged in August to the highest level since 2014. Demand is more speculative than actual increases although supply tightened on the metal and a weak dollar has also contributed to help drive copper prices up. The lower dollar makes dollar dominated commodities cheaper for holders of other currencies and potentially boosts demand. Copper metal increases push Copper Sulfate prices higher.

Zinc has also resumed its upward movement. Zinc supplies have been tight while demand has been strong sending zinc to 2017 high. Zinc metal will increase Zinc Sulfate and Zinc Oxide prices. We have a fertilizer price discount through September and then we should see Zinc Sulfate prices increasing.

As we noted the last few months the Chinese government tightening environmental regulations and auditing facilities is causing prices and lead times to increase. Some plants have closed and others have significantly reduced production. Oxalic Acid has seen significant price movement and more is to come as plants close. Additional products will see prices rise. We have many options other than Chinese sources for our products. China is actually becoming less a source of what we offer.

Chem One will be closed on Monday September 4th in observance of Labor Day.

We use this area of our newsletter to advise you of any new regulations that may affect your business whether it is chemical, safety or transportation related.

This month we would like to take some print space to give information on the agencies that assist during major catastrophes and give you some web addresses of those agencies. They include our wonderful first responders that have a special place in our hearts as the group that would be first in line if something were to impact our chemical facility.

Chem One was not heavily impacted but as mentioned we did have some employees that were, there are thousands or more Houstonians that were also heavily impacted.

We will do everything we can to assist our employees and our community.

Texas Association of First Responders –
American Red Cross –

For our customers in and around the Houston area we hope you are all safe and if we can help in anyway please contact us.
